2020 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy & Palisade VIP launched

Hyundai has launched new 'Calligraphy and VIP' trims of Palisade SUV in the South Korean market. Both have arrived as a part of Palisade's MY20 update.

While the Palisade Calligraphy's price starts from KRW 47,100,000 ( ₹29.16 lakh) and extends to KRW 50,950,000 ( ₹31.54 lakh), the Palisade VIP sits in the range of KRW 52,800,000 ( ₹32.68 lakh) to KRW 56,650,000 ( ₹35.07 lakh).

1.Palisade Calligraphy

The Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy flaunts various design modifications for a more upmarket character. It features radiator grille with triangular inserts, much bigger, full-width chrome skid plate and lower air intake grille in a honeycomb pattern at the front. On the sides, there are 20-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, there’s a skid plate with ribbed pattern. All of these elements come in an exclusive design and intricate details aimed at giving the SUV a more luxurious styling.

The Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy can be had only as a seven-seater. There are two engine options: 295 PS 3.8-litre GDi petrol and 202 PS 2.2-litre eVGT diesel. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard. An AWD system is available irrespective of the engine selected. Below are the prices:

  • Palisade Calligraphy petrol FWD - KRW 47,100,000 (INR 29,16,005.75)
  • Palisade Calligraphy petrol AWD - KRW 49,450,000 (INR 3061496.48)
  • Palisade Calligraphy diesel FWD - KRW 48,600,000 (INR 3008872.17)
  • Palisade Calligraphy diesel AWD - KRW 50,950,000 (INR 3154362.90)

The customers can opt for Rain Forest exterior paint scheme on the Calligraphy, while for the interiors there are three exclusive colours - Black, Khaki and Beige. Some other key interior highlights include Quilted Nappa leather upholstery, 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, head-up display and more. It is only available as a 7-seater.

In terms of mechanicals, it runs on two engine options - a 202 PS 2.2-litre eVGT diesel and a 295 PS 3.8-litre GDi petrol. It is available with a standard 8-speed automatic gearbox which transmits power to all wheels.

2.Palisade VIP

Palisade VIP is the top-spec and most luxurious Palisade available in the line-up. Basically, it's a Calligraphy with an optional package. Some of its key highlights include bits like an exclusive second-row centre console armrest featuring air purifier and a cold/warm cup holder, a second-row two-monitor entertainment system, a wireless charger and a wing-type headrest with built-in speaker. Mechanically, it remains unchanged.

Below are the prices:

  • Palisade VIP petrol FWD - KRW 52,800,000 (INR 3268898.16)
  • Palisade VIP petrol AWD - KRW 55,150,000 (INR 3414388.89)
  • Palisade VIP diesel FWD - KRW 54,300,000 (INR 3361764.58)
  • Palisade VIP diesel AWD - KRW 56,650,000 (INR 3507255.32)

Major Features of these newly Launched Vehicles:

  • Built-in sun shades for the second-row passengers are a welcome touch not often seen in this class – nor are heated and cooled second-row seats, but they’re here in the top Ultimate trim.
  • The cleverness continues at the back where a hands-free liftgate allows access to a cargo hold that, with the second- and third-row seats folded, is absolutely gargantuan. Even the liftgate itself has a choice between a fast or slow opening speed.
  • The seats in the top two trims, are covered in quilted Nappa leather. It’s a decadent touch, as is the similar treatment to the door panel trim. Other materials don’t feel quite as premium.
  • The swath of shiny plastic trim across the dashboard of our test vehicle had a strange, sparkly pattern, and the centre console piece almost resembled carbon fibre, and yet other pieces were a glossy black. Other trims had a faux wood trim that looked notably better.
  • More impressive still is the implementation of an occupant monitor that will sound an alarm if the vehicle is shut down and exited with a child or pet detected inside. Also, Safe Exit Assist will keep rear doors locked if other vehicles are detected approaching from behind, protecting little ones from leaping out into traffic.
