The Mahindra Thar received a generation upgrade after 10 years, and the new-gen model now comes with new styling and an array of modern equipment and features.
1.Introduction
New-generation Mahindra Thar gets several cosmetic tweaks, more features, and an option of petrol and diesel engine. The new Thar's price in India is likely to be announced on 2 October, 2020
Mahindra decided to reveal the all-new Thar on Independence Day probably to highlight Mahindra's long association with the armed forces.
2.History of Mahindra Thar
The Mahindra Thar is a compact, four-wheel drive, off-road Jeep CJ-like SUV manufactured by Indian automaker Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.
The Mahindra Thar is basically a stripped down off roader from the Indian carmaker that has a large fan following in the country owing to its road presence and simple design.
The Mahindra Thar is also sold in United States Market named as Roxor in a 2 seater Variant but Unlike Thar, the Roxor is not street legal, and is positioned as a side-by-side off-road vehicle
3.Price & Variants
The new Thar is available in two variants -- AX (Adventure) and LX (Lifestyle) series.
The new Mahindra Thar's price in India will be announced on 2 October. 2020.
4.Design
The new Thar carries the first-gen model's overall boxy silhouette and even retains some characteristic elements like round headlamps and seven-slat grille. although, the grille is now compact than before.
New Thar also gets a new front bumper, raised fenders, a new design for the alloy wheels, redesigned tail lights,LED DRLs, Front Fog Lamps and new rear bumper with silver insert.
But the major highlight on the new Thar has is the removable top, all-terrain tyres as standard, and the SUV's 650 mm water wading capacity.
5.Interior & Features
For the First time, the Thar is now available with front-facing seats as opposed to previous model's side-facing seating layout for the rear.
It also gets a TouchScreen Infotainment System with Tyre Pressure Monitoring System,Adventure Stats and Adventure Calendar to customize Off-Road Driving Capability.
In terms of Features,it gets a semi-digital instrument console with a multi-information display, steering mounted controls, AC, cruise control, key-less entry, etc.
6.Safety
The safety equipment on the SUV now includes dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system, electronic stability programme with roll-over mitigation, hill-hold assist, hill descent control, reverse parking camera, etc.
7.Engine
The new generation Thar is available with a choice between 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine.
The Diesel motor delivers 130 bhp, 320 Nm and is available with a choice between a six-speed manual transmission and six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The petrol unit, on the other hand, churns 150 bhp with 320 Nm and is available with automatic transmission only. And as before, the Thar is still available with a 4x4 shift-on-fly transfer case with the mechanical differential lock but this drivetrain is now available as standard across the entire range.
8.Dimensions
The new Mahindra thar 2020 has a length of 3920 mm, width of 1726 mm and wheelbase of 2430 mm.Overall Cabin Shave is Good and it Offers a Descent amount of headroom,legroom and knee space.
9.Colors
This stunning vehicle comes with 6 exotic colors and two new shades which is the Galaxy grey and the Mystique copper.Other than these colors, The new Mahindra thar is available in Red rage, Napoli black, Rocky beige, aquamarine colour.
10.Rivals
The Mahindra that only rival will be the upcoming Maruthi Jimmy and the force Gurkha.
