Mahindra Seeks buyer for Ssangyong

Facing Losses due to  falling sales in its home market, as well as impairment writedowns, India’s Mahindra and Mahindra is now seeking a buyer for its struggling South Korean subsidiary SsangYong. The information was revealed by Pawan Goenka, managing director of Mahindra, during a financial results presentation in New Delhi last week. “SsangYong needs a new investor,” he said. “We are working with the company to see if we can secure investment.” Mahindra acquired a 75% stake in SsangYong in 2010 after the SUV and light-duty truck brand ran into financial troubles at the hands of previous owners Daewoo and SAIC. Mahindra managed to briefly make SsangYong profitable six years later, and as recently as early 2020 planned to invest $406 million into the brand over a three-year period.

  Source :TeamBHP.com Maruti Suzuki India and Chinese Automaker  MG Motor are the only two passenger vehicle makers in the mass segment to offer above 5 per cent average fixed dealer margins, which is still short of 7 per cent of selling price that automotive dealers have demanded from auto makers. As per the study, among the major volume payers in mass PV segment, on an average across all models Maruti Suzuki India has a fixed dealer margin of 5.07 per cent; Hyundai Motor India 4.38 per cent; Tata Motors 3.74 per cent; Mahindra & Mahindra 3.75 per cent, Honda 3.41 per cent, Toyota Kirloskar Motor 2.32 per cent, Kia Motor 4.43 per cent and MG Motor India 5.22 per cent. Dealers have asked for a fixed 7% margin while currently it stands between 3 to 5%.

In this partnership, Tata Motors will install superfast chargers for EVs at select MG dealerships to offer end-to-end charging solutions to its dealers across India. These chargers, which will have a capacity of 50 KW, accessible by both MG ZS EV customers and other EV owners with CCS/CHAdeMO charging standards. BS6-compliant vehicles to come with a green sticker from October 2020

The 1 cm green strip will be placed at the top of the third registration sticker, which is affixed on the inner side of a vehicle's windshield. The coronavirus pandemic dealt a severe blow to the Indian car industry as it compelled companies to shutdown production and sales of vehicles. As a result, carmakers did not sell even a single vehicle in April 2020 for the first time. However, as the government eased restrictions last month and the vehicle manufacturers started resuming operations, there has been some action on the sales front. Nissan is killing Datsun Brand again and plans to cut $2.8B in annual fixed costs

Nissan is planning to cut about 300 billion yen ($2.8 billion) in annual fixed costs and book restructuring charges as the coronavirus pandemic further depresses the automaker’s sales.
